Role:

We are seeking an experienced Volunteer Co-ordinator with fundraising background to take forward an exciting and new volunteering project to support our charity to recruit and co-ordinate a team of volunteers that would provide additional services to our clients and increase our public engagement. Owing to the nature of the job, some flexibility will be needed.  The post holder will also be occasionally expected to work out of office hours.

Evidence suggests that disabled people are still living in isolation and that general public still doesn’t see those individuals as a natural part of everyday public space. Through your role we aim to increase understanding of disability issues amongst general public. Through fundraising activities your team will be directly engaging with general public and raising awareness about disability.

Organisation profile:

The DASH Club delivers after school and holiday program for young people with disability (11-18 years old). All our clients have a learning disability including autism combined with physical and / or visual impairment. Many of our clients also use wheel chair, are unable to speak and usually suffer from a combination of disability issues named above. Additionally, many come from a disadvantaged background combining other disabled child in family, coming from single parent background and / or living in areas of multiple deprivation.

We make sure that those young people get opportunity to socialise in afterschool activities where they improve their mental and physical health through sport, art, games, social outings, trips, residential in age relevant safe environment.

Our organization has been operating since 1999 and started as a spontaneous response to obvious gap in informal education for disabled children in Glasgow. We have a strong board mostly sustaining from carers of current or former clients. This expertise is further transparent in our staff where 85% of our staff has been with us over 2 years. This is important since our clients adapt hard to constant change of workers. All our staff is fully trained and our care inspectorate report awarded us top mark in care. All our staff is PVG checked and this will also be a case for you.
